Well I wasted most of today. Yesterday I had a meeting with the proff, who basically decided that he wanted a completely different input system for the movie maker script. Now I'm supposed to write a matlab script that generates an input file that a sequence of lists that exactly specify camera position and timestep number. The advantage of this system is, you can do weird things like go backwards in time. The disadvantage is, you have to code it yourself, I just provide the skeleton that shows how the two scripts communicate. At least I suppose this means the proff actually intends to use what I wrote. I feel kind of like Sisyphus. Or at least I can begin to empathize with how that fictional character would fictionally feel. But yeah I wasted alot of time looking at different file formats, and now I'm just resorting to writing the output from the matlab script myself and hoping I'll be able to 'unpickle' it, to use some python terminology. The Octavia Butler story, The Parable of The Sower, is good so far. Like any good sci fi e.g. Dune or The Hyperion Cantos, it has some pretty heavy religious undertones, and I like her version of the apocalypse: gradual, arising out of people's complacency.
