Spent a good four hours on Sunday figuring out through trial and error and documentation reading how to produce an output file python would be able to read. Unfortunately, this topic also occupied much of my day today, software dependencies are not a pleasant thing to deal with when working with computers, let me tell you that much. I have almost certainly not solved the problem entirely yet either. I did get some output though, and right now I'm working on modifying my script so it could hypothetically work with this different form of input, assuming I did the indexing just right...yea.
In other news, I started reading about Hadoop to see if it could solve some of the problems I'm confronted with in my web dev, but, it wasn't...and probably isn't a solution to most amateur problems seeing as how it's designed to handle extremely large datasets, mine concerned geospatial coordinates, but I needed a quick response time, so it's looking like I might end up using some kind of mysql or maybe some kind of quadtree or something.
